Equipment
- 1 Large Pot or Dutch Oven
- 2 Chef's Knife
- 3 Cutting Board
- 4 Measuring Cups and Spoons
- 5 Can Opener
- 6 Wooden Spoon or Spatula
- 7 Ladle Bowls
Ingredients
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons melted butter
- 1⅓ cups warm water (110°F)
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cups baking soda
- 4 cups water
- 1 cups pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Coarse sea salt (for sprinkling on the crust)
- Your favorite pizza toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, etc.)
Instructions
- Activate Yeast:Fill a large pot with water, and heat until hot. Once the water is hot, add the sugar and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it foams.
- Mix the flour:Add the flour and salt to the sugar water in the heated pan. Sprinkle some flour lightly to mix the dough well and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let it rise:Place the dough in an oiled bowl. Cover with a clean cloth.
- Boil the water:Take 4 cups of water in a bowl. Carefully add the baking soda (the water will bubble as soon as the baking soda is added, so add it slowly)
- Shape the Dough:Divide the dough into 2 portions. Roll each portion into a round pizza crust shape about 12 inches in diameter.
- Boil the dough:Place each pizza roll in boiling baking soda water for 30 seconds, remove with a slotted spoon when the pizza is completely submerged, and place on a wire rack.
- Add the toppings:If you're using a stone to bake the pizza, you must transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel. Brush the edges of the stone with a little oil. Then sprinkle with coarse salt. Spread the pizza sauce over the crust leaving a small border. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake the pizza:Carefully transfer the pizza to a baking sheet set to preheat. Bake for 12-15 minutes, and continue baking until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
- Serve:Remove the pizza from the oven and slice once the pizza has cooled slightly. Enjoy Pretzel Crust Pizza for the whole family to enjoy!
